About The Position

The SCADA Specialist provides critical SCADA support and maintenance of a 24x7 real-time SCADA control system. The SCADA system allows pipeline controllers in Houston to control and monitor pipelines that span the country. The SCADA Specialist responsibilities include, but are not limited to: SCADA system support and maintenance that includes data analysis, screen development, database updates, point to point checkout and documentation. Creation of SCADA display screens (one-lines, overviews, etc.) for the pipeline operations control center. Working with process control engineers and field technicians for point-to-point checkout. Interfacing with Control Center personnel and support team in supporting and enhancing the SCADA systems. Implementation and management of work assignments through the MOC process for control center CRM. Operating in a dynamic and fast paced environment. On-call rotation for 24x7 support of control center.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related technical fields or commensurate experience is required.
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID diagrams or other related documentation of piping and field instrumentation is preferred.
  • SCADA/HMI applications experience in the liquids and gas pipelines industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of pipeline operations and procedures is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet networking, field instrumentation and equipment protocols, and pipeline communications is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively interface with customers, team members, management, and other technical support groups.
  • Commitment to follow instructions according to company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Characteristic of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently but also work effectively in a small team environment, sometimes under stressful circumstances.
  • Ability to learn quickly in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  • Good oral and written communications skills.
  • At times may be required to lift up to 40 lbs. transport and/or install various types of computers and SCADA equipment.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
