About The Position

Schedule & Work Environment Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No weekends or holidays Onsite position Location North Hospital Medical Office Building (MOB) – Carmel Key Responsibilities Facilitate efficient patient flow from point of entry to final destination in a timely, accurate, and professional manner Schedule and coordinate appointments with Radiology and the Pulmonary Function Lab Obtain and verify patient demographic, insurance, and financial information to ensure accurate records and optimal reimbursement Interview patients to collect appropriate medical information Explain departmental and hospital policies, procedures, and charges Enter and validate charges in appropriate systems and collect required payments Answer incoming calls and direct patients and visitors appropriately Utilize Cerner (or Epic) to manage scheduling, registration, and documentation Skills for Success Strong customer service and patient-centered approach Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment Professional, courteous, and compassionate communication style High attention to detail and organizational skills Understanding of the role and accountability for performing it effectively Experience with Cerner or Epic preferred

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to learn, understand, and retain medical coding concepts, including ICD-10 and CPT
  • Ability to interpret insurance information accurately
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong customer service and patient-centered approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Professional, courteous, and compassionate communication style
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Understanding of the role and accountability for performing it effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a healthcare or clinical setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical practices
  • Experience with medical coding (ICD-10, CPT)
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems (Cerner or Epic preferred)
  • Experience with Cerner or Epic preferred
