We’re looking for a Quality Engineer who will drive test automation and champion quality practices across our Pet Insurance application ecosystem. This is a hands-on role where you’ll influence people, processes, and technology to ensure our solutions are reliable, scalable, and secure. As part of a fast-growing business, you’ll collaborate with multiple Agile teams , product owners, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes. You’ll also lead end-to-end testing initiatives , coordinate across internal and external teams, and continuously improve our testing strategies. As a Quality Engineer you will plan and conduct a wide range of software quality tests and analyzes to ensure all application products and services meet organizational standards aligned to their quality management approach, as well as, end-user requirements. All Quality Engineers perform quality planning, quality design and execution. You will focus on a blend of skills enabling efficient execution of risk-based testing, test automation, performance testing, test data management, test environment management, continuous integration and continuous deployment all improving speed to delivery for our business partners.

  • Design and implement automated testing strategies that align with business goals and technical standards.
  • Lead end-to-end testing efforts , providing clear reporting and actionable insights.
  • Advance quality engineering practices through process improvements and innovation.
  • Mentor and coach team members on automation tools and best practices.
  • Analyze defects and trends , presenting findings in operational reviews.
  • Build strong partnerships with vendors and external service providers to ensure quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, developers, and business teams.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends to drive continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.
  • Carries out procedures to ensure all information systems products and services meet organization standards and end-user requirements.
  • Analyzes and reviews moderate requirements, user stories and technical work products to create the automation needed.
  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Plans for the proper mix of manual, automated, and exploratory testing methods.
  • Uses the appropriate quality engineering tools to define test data management, test automation, security/vulnerability, performance, and regression testing needs.
  • Validates test results, records and researches defects.
  • Coordinates test runs and test environment calendars for all impacted applications.
  • Traces requirements to tests and test results.
  • Prioritizes, defines, and manages defect reporting and resolution.
  • Manages defects including identifying, tracking, and providing critical thinking for resolution.
  • Identifies means to be more effective and efficient in testing, without compromising quality.
  • Plans for continuous integration to enable a continuous deployment pipeline.
  • Executes moderate release testing and has a plan for back-out testing.
  • Validates that release components are installed in the appropriate testing environment.
  • Aligns with the Nationwide automated testing reference architecture.
  • Complies with release management process governance and timelines throughout the release.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Four or more years of experience with using test optimization and automation processed and tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in testing for agile teams including planning, test plan creation, maintenance and execution.
  • Good understanding of test automation and optimization throughout a stack and the tools to support.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, knowledge of planning.
  • Ability to problem solve and set priorities needed.
  • TOSCA – for model-based test automation
  • Postman – for API testing
  • SQL – for data validation and backend testing
  • JMeter – for performance and load testing
  • Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
