About The Position

L3Harris is seeking an experienced TDM Tier 2 Network Operations Engineer. The position requires a highly motivated self-starter, capable of following detailed instructions and completing assigned tasks on-schedule, while working with minimal direct supervision. This individual must have a demonstrated record of high performance, attention to detail, and must be thoroughly familiar with all types of telecommunications transmission mediums and associated network equipment, ranging from analog voice grade circuits to SONET equipment and optical circuits. This position requires a team player that is capable of performing in a dynamic team environment in support of a large nationwide customer. This individual will be a key support member of the FTI Primary Network Operations Control Center (PNOCC), and will work closely with a geographically dispersed field service team to facilitate service restoration efforts involving complex network elements located throughout North America. The TDM Tier 2 Network Operations Engineer will directly interface with internal and external customers and service providers. They will be responsible for providing TDM Tier II level assistance to other subgroups of the FTI program, supporting Network Operations, managing special projects, resolving issues of the highest complexity. Must possess a demonstrated understanding of, and experience adhering to Change Management processes and procedures and willing to perform rotational on call duties in a 24/7/365 environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
• Graduate Degree or equivalent with 2 years of prior related experience.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
• Experience in networking technologies experience with SONET and/or Time Division Multiplexing (TDM).
• Experience in change management, network management, and network technology experience.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a NOS working in the FTI PNOCC troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of all aspects of the FTI/FAA communications network infrastructure.
• Understanding of NAS Operations ticket management and scheduled maintenance processes and procedures.
• Knowledge of NAS Operations service types and service delivery methods.
• Knowledge of event and alarm correlation.
• Experience working with minimal supervision and ability to lead in a team environment.
• Project management skills capable of adhering to deadlines and completion of tasks according to project schedule.
• Subject matter expert level knowledge of service types, service design, alarm generation and flow.
• Experience creating and presenting training documents and technical procedures.
• Experience with Microsoft Office software applications.
• Communication skills and ability to develop effective working relationships with other departments supporting Operations.

Responsibilities

• Operation and maintenance of the Network Optical Backbone SONET equipment and TDM circuits.
• Resolve highly complex network issues in a timely fashion.
• Proactively engage Tier 1 to facilitate learning, provide technical direction, and support service restoration efforts.
• Review network event data and determine causes of alarms and events to determine root cause and resolution of network problems.
• Scheduling, tracking and performing maintenance on FTI CPE and services.
• Submits Program Tracking Reports (PTR) for facility, equipment, and service changes.
• Orders replacement parts for repair activities and tracks shipment.
• Supports on-call responsibilities and work after-hours as required.
• Creates detailed documentation for technical and training purposes.
