The Specialist Mechanical Maintenance is accountable for development of comprehensive work packages, supporting excellence in execution of the right work at the right time, by multi-discipline trades, including internal and external department resources for a broad cross-section of equipment. Specialist Mechanical Maintenance are recognized for their expertise as subject matter experts and applying planning process 'best practices' and should be capable of planning work for multi-disciplinary trades against a broad cross-section of equipment. The focus is on being the subject matter expert for the equipment, not craft planning. Specialist Mechanical Maintenance typically require equipment knowledge breadth and capability to interact and plan for multi-discipline trades. A 'craft' background (certificate of qualification) is beneficial. The role could include being the suject matter expert for a system within Steelmaking.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED-equivalent
  • 3 years' minimum experience in maintenance activities within a heavy manufacturing environment needed
  • In-depth experience with SAP CMMS required
  • Working knowledge of SAP-PM and FMEA
  • Working knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic
  • Ability to communicate technically and effectively with Engineers and Specialists as well as outside Contractors and Vendors
  • Experience or design knowledge of Electric Arc Furnaces, Ladle Met Furnaces, Vacuum Degassers, Slab Casters, Raw Material Handling system strongly desired, including knowledge of pumps, hydraulic systems, lubrication systems

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Engineering-related programs or combined equivalent of education and experience
  • Prefer 5+ years' experience in maintenance activities in a heavy industrial environment
  • Business economics, Maintenance Reliability, and Lean Six Sigma knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning element of the Asset Reliability Maintenance Process (ARMP) through application of accepted planning practices leveraging Maintenance Work Management, Professional Maintenance organization, processes, and enabling technologies
  • Development and execution of Work Packages with the required level of detail to achieve effective and efficient scheduling and supporting maximum effectiveness and efficiency during execution including work safety
  • Develop plans which assure minimum cost of Repair and Maintenance (R&M) and involve execution resources, and other knowledgeable Subject Matter Experts (SME's) in plan development with the following:
  • Walk-Down of identified work must be completed utilizing the 'Walk-Down' Template
  • Tasks, Craft & Craft Duration, Parts & Materials, Services (rentals) estimating must be complete and accurate based on validated scope utilizing the 'Estimating' Template
  • Materials and non-human resources must not be missed, however must not be wasted
  • Effective use of scheduling software to produce a detailed schedule laying out the planned work
