About The Position

As a Manufacturing Engineer at L3Harris Technologies, you will be instrumental in developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing processes within a defense-focused production environment. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance manufacturing efficiencies, ensure product quality, and support the delivery of reliable defense solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably in a defense or aerospace environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and experience in designing tooling and fixtures.
  • Strong understanding of industry regulations, including ITAR, ISO, and MIL-STD.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma (e.g., Green Belt or Black Belt).
  • Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of defense industry-specific requirements and standards.
  • Active Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare manufacturing estimates, including mechanical/electrical inspection and assembly costs.
  • Review design layouts and engineering drawings, recommending changes to facilitate manufacturing and reduce defects.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions and procedures with visual aids to support product manufacturing.
  • Prepare operations sheets and assembly instructions detailing the sequence of operations and inspection requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement using Lean Green/Black Belt techniques such as DMAIC and FMEA.
  • Monitor and improve assembly and manufacturing instruction sheets for operational efficiency.
  • Design tooling, fixtures, and test equipment to support programs, simplifying tool design where possible.
  • Support the transition of new programs from design to production, ensuring readiness.
  • Incorporate engineering change orders and revisions into operations sheets and assembly instructions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams, including Engineering and Program Management.
  • Monitor material non-conformance and develop corrective action plans.
  • Prepare production status reports and other required documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
