About The Position

The EHS Specialist provides leadership and serves as a key partner across the organization to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations at the corporate, local, state, and federal levels. This role promotes a strong safety culture and advances EHS best practices to protect employees at the Batavia, IL manufacturing facility. Position Type: Salaried, Exempt. Schedule: Facility operates 24/5; flexibility to support all shifts required, with primary assignment on first shift.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or five years of related experience/training in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing safety, EHS, or a related role required.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10- or 30-Hour certification preferred, or willingness to obtain within three (3) months of hire.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain within three (3) months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement EHS policies and procedures in compliance with corporate, local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Plan, implement and train on EHS policies and procedures to employees.
  • Organize, lead and participate in Safety Committee meetings, events and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance to required local, state and federal data reporting.
  • Inspect organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident, health and environmental hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Provide information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety/environmental hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
  • Lead the team for investigation of near misses and all incidents and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence collection for organizational use in development of corrective and preventative actions, additional investigations including worker’s compensation as well as for any potential legal requirements.
  • Provide new hire orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing electrical safety training (LOTO, fall protection, PPE, etc.).
  • Collaboration with HR of workers' compensation program, including working with the local medical provider and insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.
  • Coach and mentor supervisors to foster a strong culture of safety awareness and proactive hazard reporting.
  • Represent the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
  • Maintain OSHA Log, EHS files, and records.
  • Regular and punctual attendance, consistently adhere to the assigned work schedule
  • Comply with all GMP requirements and adhere to all CFS safety policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
