About The Position

Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost. We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Environmental Specialist at the Plaquemines LNG facility. General Description: The Environmental Specialist will actively collaborate and participate as a valued member of the Environmental Team to provide environmental guidance, technical support and coordinate activities and processes within the Plaquemines LNG Terminal. The Environmental Specialist reports directly to the Supervisor, Environmental and will support the goals and functions of the Environmental Department in ensuring continued compliance during all aspects of facility operations, projects, and maintenance. Under general supervision, the Environmental Specialist is expected to provide regulatory and technical support to stakeholders across the facility and liaise with other departments at the site that are impacted by environmental regulations and standards. The Environmental Specialist focuses on the implementation of federal, state, and local environmental requirements, applies compliance procedures, and consults with plant Operations and Projects personnel to ensure environmental compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or similar discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in environmental compliance in support of LNG, gas processing, large natural gas pipeline facilities, refinery, or petrochemical infrastructure facilities is preferred.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills across multiple levels.
  • Organized and able to manage and prioritize multiple activities and programs with competing priorities, in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency with computers and software applications, including process operating systems, environmental management systems, systems integration concepts, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite (Access, PowerPoint, Projects, Teams, Word, Visio and advanced skills in Excel spreadsheet manipulation, and computation).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in project and turnaround meetings and reviews to assess environmental needs & implications and communicates them to appropriate personnel.
  • Works closely with the Enviornmental Team and provides support and assistance to department staff including but not limited to, water/waste sampling efforts, data input/evalution, and chemical inventory verification to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Completes and reviews compliance inspections as required by regulatory permits and communicates any deficiencies to the appropriate work groups for resolution, including but not limited to chemical inventory, waste, spill prevention and stormwater pollution prevention.
  • Establishes strong working relationships with facility personnel to ensure open lines of communication are maintained between operations staff and environmental personnel.
  • Provides site-specific environmental training and reference materials for facility personnel and contractors, as needed.
  • Assists in developing and updating environmental procedures and plans as needed and integrates new environmental regulatory requirements into operational plans, including but not limited to Storwmater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plans (SPCC) and Wildlife Management Plans.
  • Communicates any environmental issues to management and supports the investigation, identification, and closure of the issues / deficiencies identified during inspections or data review.
