Requirements

  • Degree in Mining Engineering (advanced degrees preferred).
  • Recognized Competent/Qualified Person for Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve estimation.
  • Experience in underground mine design, scheduling optimization, and automation technologies.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment and peer review methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of underground mining regulations and engineering governance.
  • Prior experience in a Technical Superintendent role is an asset.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced proficiency in Underground Mine Planning concepts and software (Deswik, etc.).
  • Expertise in developing and implementing engineering standards, compliance monitoring, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of safety in design principles and risk management.
  • Ability to implement and improve engineering governance frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and adapt underground mine engineering standards to align with best practices.
  • Regularly refine and update standards based on technological advancements and regulatory changes.
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops to educate engineering teams on compliance and best practices.
  • Monitor and audit adherence to engineering standards through peer and governance reviews.
  • Collaborate with universities, industry organizations, and technical experts to integrate innovative solutions.
  • Report on engineering compliance, identifying gaps, risks, and necessary improvements.
  • Work closely with site mine engineering teams, technical services, and planning groups to ensure consistency.
