About The Position

Provides expertise in the coding of diagnoses and procedures; staying abreast of coding and reimbursement changes; promoting quality coding and serving as a resource to the coding staff. Assesses coding practices and offers education and recommendations when appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum: 3 years coding experience in an acute care facility.
• Minimum: Skill and proficiency in coding inpatient and outpatient (ancillary, emergency department, outpatient surgery, etc.) records utilizing ICD CM and CPT coding.
• Possesses accurate typing and excellent communication skills.
• Minimum: 3 years coding experience in acute care facility (ICD and CPT).

Responsibilities

• Provides expertise in achieving and maintaining the highest standards of accuracy in clinical documentation, ICD CM and CPT coding, DRG/APC assignment and reimbursement.
• Evaluates and monitors coding staff to ensure accurate and complete coding and compliance with federal regulations and other payer guidelines while also recommending actions to improve coding and documentation practices.
• Collects and reports findings of coding reviews in standardized format and on timely basis.
• Provides ongoing education on coding and reimbursement issues.
• Completes other assigned goals.
