About The Position

This position is an anticipated vacancy. It is expected to be vacant by 06/30/2025. However, the current incumbent has a right to rescind their retirement, leave, or resignation up until the day of the expected vacancy date. Your hire will not be confirmed until the position is vacated, and you may start the year as a Long-Term Substitute if the position does not become vacant by the start of the school year. The Joseph Lee is a K-8 school serving over 600 students who have a diverse set of learners. Our school focuses heavily on inclusive practices and we are seeking collaborative team members to add to our team of teachers. We strive to maintain a safe, joyful and emotionally sensitive environment. The Joseph Lee is in search of an innovative ABA specialist teacher to develop and implement an enrichment curriculum for students in K0-8 ABA-based and K0-1 general education classrooms. The curriculum should be designed to support the development of social, communication, and leisure skills and may include activities such as dance, yoga, music, STEM, or other agreed upon. Our ideal candidates possess urban teaching experience, a belief in our mission of being a diverse community of goal-oriented thinkers and learners and who will put implicit biases, equity and communication at the forefront of their lens. Requirements

  • Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • Holds a Moderate or Severe Disabilities License from the State of Massachusetts
  • Experience delivering these support services to students with disabilities
  • Ability to meet the BPS Standards of Effective Practice as outlined above

Nice To Haves

  • Hold a Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement and/or English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching license
  • Master's Degree in special education or an appropriately related field
  • Experience in the Boston Public Schools
  • Experience working in urban public schools
  • Fluency in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali

Responsibilities

  • Provide specific support services, appropriate for the students enrolled in this strand and other students placed at risk, defined collaboratively by the Principal/Head of School and OSE
  • Provide support services to individual students, small groups, and class groups, as defined in IEPs or Service Team Action Plans
  • Collaborate in planning and service delivery with Principal(s)/Head of School(s), HSS Teachers, Special Education Coordinators, Special Education Program Directors, and other school staff and administrators
  • Provide case management and liaison with other schools, district, and community-based providers
  • Participate as members of Service Teams and Evaluation Teams
  • Provide consultation and professional development to colleagues
