Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reviews requisitions Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedules Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items Estimates values according to knowledge of market price Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid Prepares purchase orders or bid requests Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority Maintains manual or computerized procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action May approve invoices for payment May expedite delivery of goods to users Qualifications and Requirements: Knowledge of product and service vendor sources Knowledge of purchasing procedures and practices Ability to analyze varying product and service features, prices and qualities, and determine most cost effective purchase for organization Associate's or Bachelor’s degree preferred or certification/licensing in a program of 18 months to 3 years duration in commercial work including purchasing and inventory management 3-5 years of purchasing experience in the poultry, beef, seafood, or dairy industry Proficiency in Microsoft Office Strong negotiation and communication skills Good time management and attention to detail Excellent organization skills Benefits you will enjoy: Comprehensive benefits package that includes: Medical, Dental, Prescription Drug Plan, Disability Plan, Life insurance Plan 401K savings Plan Paid Holidays Personal Time off Employee Discounts Works with the leadership team and appropriate team members to encourage and support organizational sustainability efforts. Requirements

  • Knowledge of product and service vendor sources
