Special Victim’s Unit Assistant Prosecutor – Criminal Division
About The Position
Incumbent is responsible for investigating, preparing, and litigating felony criminal offenses against victims who are children, elderly or otherwise physically or mentally challenged, ie Special Victims. Preparing for trials and litigations; Performing investigations Attending pretrial conferences, bench trials and jury trials Attend and participate in training law enforcement officers in investigation and prosecution techniques in SVU cases; Attend and participate in Multi Disciplinary Team Meetings; Conduct training and instructions in SVU case investigations and prosecution as needed; participating in the preparation and implementation of protocols, policies and procedures for related agencies who assist in the prosecution of Special Victims. Performs related Essential and Non-Essential functions as needed.
Requirements
- Five or more years or experience as an Assistant Prosecutor or equivalent private practice experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of the legal system
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Knowledge of researching skills
- Knowledge of the Rules of the Court, the Ohio Revised Code, Ohio Administrative Code, Rules of Criminal Procedure
- Knowledge of grand jury and criminal proceedings
- Juris Doctor Degree is required
- Incumbent must pass the bar and be licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio and be in good standing with the Supreme Court of Ohio
