About The Position

Special Service Providers are essential to the success of our Extended School Year (ESY) programs, offering targeted support and interventions that enhance the functioning of students and their families. The goal is to maximize each student’s academic performance and overall well-being during the summer months. Special Service Providers may deliver a wide range of related services, including, but not limited to: Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Speech Language, Occupational and Physical Therapy, Audiology, Assistive Technology, and Orientation and Mobility, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist, Sign Language Interpreters, or Nursing, Required.
  • Current Colorado Special Service Provider License with an endorsement in Social Worker, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist, Sign Language Interpreter, Orientation & Mobility, or Nursing.
  • Knowledge with Google Suite, including Doc, Sheets and Gmail
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines
  • The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance
  • Work collaboratively with others on a team
  • Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work and Psychology, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist, or Nursing, preferred.
  • 1 (one) or more years of experience in school special services experience is preferred. Experience working with families, including the administration of developmental and family assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing specialized services to students participating in ESY.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine the maintenance of ESY goal progress per the student’s IEP.
  • May be asked to assist in other classrooms or ESY sites based on student and program needs.
  • Collaborates with referring school staff about appropriate specialized services for students.
  • Acquires adaptive instructional materials from students’ referring teacher(s) or specialist(s).
  • Provides specialized services based on students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Provides student supervision as directed by the Extended School Year (ESY) SEIS Coordinator and ESY Site Leader.
  • Collaborates with other staff (Paraprofessionals and Specialized Service Providers) at the site to inform and support IEP goals and objectives.
  • Provides direction for paraprofessional(s) assigned to the classroom as appropriate.
  • Returns ESY student outcomes to referring or sending school IEP Caseworkers.
  • Supervises students as appropriate.
  • Provides non-academic support to meet students’ needs (e.g., lifting/positioning, personal hygiene, toileting and diapering, tube feeding, and catheterization) as appropriate.
  • EzEdMed documentation for service provision as appropriate.
  • Reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
  • Completes progress monitoring and reports on ESY identified goals and objectives.
  • Informs ESY Site Leader about any health and safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • May be asked to assist in other classrooms or ESY sites based on student and program needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
