About The Position

At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service. Overview We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a Special Projects Composite Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for performing composite layup operations to manufacture high-quality composite parts. The ideal candidate should have at least two years of experience in pre-preg material placement on open face tooling, material orientation, and consolidation techniques. Additionally, proficiency in performing vacuum bagging and knowledge of curing operations are necessary for this role.

Responsibilities

Perform tooling prep operations in preparation for lamination.
Prepare and organize composite materials in preparation for lamination.
Apply composite materials onto molds or tooling surfaces using techniques like hand layup or automated processes.
Ensure proper ply orientation, ply thickness, and material consolidation is achieved.
Proficiency in vacuum bagging techniques for composite layup operations.
Interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Basic use of computers for documentation and record-keeping purposes.
Able to verbally communicate, read and comprehend written and verbal instructions.
