About The Position

Assist the theatre professor, Dr. Michael Morris in conducting historical research and preparing findings for publication as a scholarly book. This position will have a specific start and end date. Project Name: From Thesis to Monograph: Revising The Socialist Construction of the Moscow Theater Festival, 1933-1937 for Scholarly Publication. End Date: January 6, 2027

  • Advanced (Capstone) Work Experience Description: Designed for students with substantial experience and advanced skills, such as multiple internships, leadership roles, or specialized training. Best suited for upper-level juniors or seniors with strong practical experience and expertise in their field.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced literature review and archival research.
  • Provide academic writing support, including developmental editing for clarity and argumentation and assistance with restructuring thesis-length writing into publication-ready chapters.
  • Prepare and maintain scholarly documentation, including Chicago-style citations, bibliographies, fact-checking, and verification of quotations and references.
  • Support publishing workflows by drafting and organizing proposal materials, assisting with peer-review preparation, helping prepare responses to reviewers/editors, and creating/editing style sheets.
  • Assist with permissions and rights management, including tracking image/archival permissions, documenting approvals, and supporting fair-use reviews as needed.
  • Manage project logistics, including timelines, task tracking, professional correspondence, and milestone delivery.
  • Prepare, manipulate, and manage extensive databases.
  • Obtain informed consent of research subjects or their guardians.
  • Verify the accuracy and validity of data entered in databases, correcting any errors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
