About The Position

As our Special Projects Advisor, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our multifamily apartment sites meet city code requirements. You’ll be the go-to person for addressing code violations, collaborating with teams, and managing projects that enhance our properties. Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of city codes and regulations for multifamily housing.
  • Background in maintenance management, with an understanding of building systems like HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work.
  • Excellent communication skills—you know how to connect with people at all levels, from residents to city officials.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a talent for resolving conflicts positively.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects while keeping an eye on deadlines and budgets.
  • Understanding of Fair Housing, ADA, and relevant legal standards.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications are a plus.
  • At least four years of experience in maintenance management or a related field, especially in multifamily settings.
  • Previous experience with city code compliance projects is a great advantage.
  • Physical ability to conduct site inspections and lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites (up to 50% of your time).
  • Availability for on-call duties and after-hours emergencies as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with project management tools; experience with RealPage products is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Projects: Lead efforts to tackle city code compliance projects from start to finish, ensuring everything stays on track and within budget.
  • Code Compliance: Investigate and resolve city code violations efficiently, crafting clear action plans to keep our properties in top shape.
  • Team Collaboration: Partner with maintenance teams and contractors to coordinate necessary repairs and improvements, maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Mentor Others: Share your knowledge with maintenance staff, providing training on code compliance and best practices in property management.
  • Communicate Effectively: Keep open lines of communication with city officials, residents, and management to ensure everyone is informed and involved.
  • Conduct Inspections: Regularly inspect properties to identify potential violations and areas for improvement and implement corrective action plans when needed.
  • Resource Coordination: Manage materials, inspections, and contractor schedules to keep projects running smoothly.
  • Safety First: Ensure all work adheres to safety standards and regulations, creating a safe environment for everyone.
