The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products. The production specialist, is part of the work cell team, plays a critical part in the ongoing success of meeting quality and productivity targets. Working in collaboration with the work cell and the Material Replenishment Coordinator, the role is responsible for all aspects of processing parts with the exception of CNC & Inspection. Ability to successfully work with Operations Engineering and quality representatives to drive continuous improvement; identify root causes and corrective action, and; participate in change management. Full accountability for non-metallic parts from issuing material to receipt into inventory, excluding CNC & Inspection.

  • Capable of manufacturing parts to customer specification with the use of work orders, sketches, drawings and process sheets.
  • Able to read and understand material safety data sheets
  • Stabilize core, layout, planform (using templates and mylars), dry fit, layup, splice and bond per established procedures.
  • Operates saws, sealers and ovens.
  • Performs routine operator level preventative maintenance, organize, clean, and maintain tools, equipment, product, and supplies to ensure highest possible standards of cleanliness in accordance with established company procedures and requirements.
  • Operator must verify their work to ensure it meets the required specifications before sending it on to the next operation.
  • Proficient with the use of precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, tapes, scales and protractors).
  • Able to work with fiberglass prepreg and epoxy adhesives.
  • Upon direction of supervisor and/or lead operator, prepares, sets up, starts daily operation and manufactures parts to customer’s specifications.
  • Understands daily requirements and helps work cell in achieving/driving daily targets.
  • Assists in the cross training of operators as needed.
  • Addresses issues found by final inspection and work with work cell team to reduce the likelihood of reoccurrence.
  • Ensure lean manufacturing concepts are being followed and actively work with team to drive continuous improvement.
  • Performs other various tasks as required.
  • Other essential duties may be assigned.
  • Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalency.
  • 6 months working as a fabrication assembler; one-year related experience, and/or; sufficient training.
  • Able to understand product drawings, and; read and understand written instructions.
  • Basic PC skills
  • Must have English reading and verbal communication skills sufficient to read, understand and communicate the company operating procedures and policies.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to demonstrate math proficiency equal to or greater than required for the position applied.
  • Must be available to work the shift specified by the position and be flexible to potential overtime on weekends/ holidays.
