About The Position

Engineering special process owner for at the Services Technology Acceleration Center (STAC) for Heat Treat & Braze processes. Responsible for focused technical execution of projects related to trials, process development, and repair industrializations. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.). Role Overview : Leads manufacturing engineering projects with primarily tactical responsibilities and project delivery, while being able to interpret simple internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes or services. Utilizes technical knowledge, analytical thinking and experience to problem solve, use judgement to make decisions on complex/challenging decisions. Has knowledge of best practices and how their own process area integrates with others throughout the repair processes. Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Able to effectively communicate, developing skills and buy-in to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Able to work with global MRO site-level Special Process owners to leverage best practices, communicate lessons learned, and drive process improvements to achieve yield entitlement and best in class cost of ownership Ability to interpret engineering Engine Shop Manual (ESM) and Standard Practice Manual (SPM) requirements and institute best practices. Can demonstrate ability to create standards and control within local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Materials, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field; or equivalent relevant experience in heat treatment and/or brazing.
  • Relevant experience in heat treat and/or braze processes in aerospace, power, automotive, or similar high-specification manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of ferrous and nonferrous alloys, heat treatment practices (solution, age, stress-relief, etc.), brazing processes (vacuum, torch, furnace), and related inspection methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, material specifications, and process standards.
  • Demonstrated experience using structured problem-solving methods and data analysis to resolve process and product issues.

  • Aerospace engine/component manufacturing or repair experience; prior responsibility for special processes subject to OEM and aviation authority requirements.
  • Experience supporting NADCAP Heat Treat / Brazing or equivalent accreditation.
  • Experience with NADCAP, customer special process approvals, or other relevant industry certifications.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt or equivalent is a plus.
  • Familiarity with furnace control systems, data acquisition, and process monitoring tools.
  • Experience with SPC, capability analysis, FMEA, control plans, and digital systems (MES/ERP/PLM).
