The Special Procedure Therapist is an advanced-level Respiratory Care Practitioner exemplifying independent decision-making, effective prioritization, and the ability to work in a dynamic healthcare environment. This position supports education and operations related to bronchoscopy, stress testing, pulmonary function testing, and equipment/supply management, while maintaining the education and skills required to actively participate in quality patient care. Collaborating with the Respiratory Therapy leadership team, the Special Procedure Therapist develops, implements, and maintains standards for blood gas processes throughout the Puget Sound Region. This position is responsible for routine maintenance and quality control on blood gas analyzers, maintains and updates CAP standards, holds monthly compliance and quality review meetings and communicates policies and procedures to staff. The Special Procedure Therapist also supports regional blood gas collection skills and competency reviews, assists with equipment updates, repairs and ordering, and reviews system compliance daily.
