About The Position

The Special Procedures Technologist in Radiology is responsible for performing all angiographic and interventional procedures, as well as all radiographic procedures. The position requires at least two years of experience in general radiography and six months of special procedures experience, which is preferred. The role is based at the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and is a full-time position with a scheduled weekly hours of 40.

Requirements

• Associates Degree from an AMA approved school of radiological technology.
• Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists, Cardio-Interventional Vascular Registry (CIVR) or Cardio-Interventional Vascular Therapy (CIVT).
• At least two years' experience in general radiography.
• Six months of special procedures experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform all special procedures to an acceptable level to the radiologist.
• Operate angiography equipment, perform contrast injections, and use stints, catheters, and guide wires properly.
• Document all patient history, impressions, and other information accurately.
• Label films and other patient records correctly.
• Ensure patient comfort with the use of all accessories, including management of IV pumps and supplies.
• Communicate effectively with patients to ensure they are aware of care and comfort needs.
• Perform general radiography exams including those involving pacemakers and operating room procedures.
• Maintain supplies and equipment to ensure optimal patient care, safety, and convenience.
• Perform other miscellaneous duties as required.
