About The Position

Join UChicago Medicine, as a Special Procedures Nurse (RN) in the Procedure clinic at our Orland Park location. Up to $5,000 Sign On Bonus Available! As a Special Procedures Nurse (RN), and under the direction of an Attending Physician or a licensed independent practitioner, you will provide technically complex and high-risk nursing care services to patients which may include one or more of the following categories: sedation, intravenous infusions, complex procedures, e.g., lumbar puncture, cardiac catheterization. This role may also include specialized monitoring during the procedure and recovery phases. In this role, you will have permanent Charge Nurse responsibility for your assigned unit.

Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse licensure.
• Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN degree or higher preferred.
• Associate Degree Nurses must enroll in a BSN program within six to nine months of hire.
• One additional certification in area specialty or within 1 year of hire.
• Current CPR through the American Heart Association.
• PALS Certified or certified within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Pediatric experience.
• Oncology experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technically complex and high-risk nursing care services to patients.
• Administer minimal and moderate sedation as prescribed and directed by the attending or licensed independent practitioner.
• Monitor and recover sedated patients following UCMC sedation policy.
• Maintain critical care competencies including management of artificial airways and hemodynamic stability.
• Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and work independently.
• Cooperate with multidisciplinary teams to fulfill patient/family needs.
• Identify issues, present strategies, and act as a change agent to resolve unit and patient care issues.
• Accept responsibility for learning and development of professional practice.
