About The Position

The Special Procedures Tech-Float position at Atrium Medical Center involves coverage of both the AMC and MVH Interventional Radiology departments. The role requires the independent performance of Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures, utilizing proper techniques and the administration of contrast media. The technician works under their scope of practice and in accordance with their certification/licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. Responsibilities include coordinating patient flow and the activities of the IR department, exercising professional judgment to maintain equipment in good working condition, and potentially performing procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs. On-call responsibilities may also be required.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Allied Health with a major in Radiologic Technology.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • ARRT RT (R) registry required.
  • ODH licensure required.
  • 1 - 3 years of job-related experience as a Radiologic Technologist.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS preferred.
  • Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI) registry preferred.
  • 3 years of progressive Radiologic Technology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs IR procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols.
  • Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the IR procedure.
  • Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed IR policies/procedures.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media to the patient according to policy.
  • Assists Radiologist in interventional radiology procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.
  • Coordinates patient care with other areas to optimize patient time and satisfaction.
  • Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs.
  • Ensures that all records, files, and reports are properly recorded as required.
  • Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.
  • Follows radiation safety policies and procedures.
