About The Position
The Parks and Recreation Department is one of the largest municipal park systems in the nation with more than 41,000 acres of desert parks and mountain preserves with 200 miles of trails; 29 pools; 8 golf courses; 188 flatland parks; 10 preserve areas; and 33 community centers. Over a million Phoenix-area residents regularly enjoy the city's parks, playgrounds, walking paths, athletic fields and open green spaces. The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a Management Assistant I (MA I) to support the Special Operations Division with essential administrative and organizational tasks. This role involves working closely with the Division Team and various departments to ensure seamless operations. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and the flexibility to handle multiple projects and deadlines. Primary responsibilities include managing the calendar of the Deputy Director, supporting their daily activities, and providing support to the supervisory team. The incumbent will write and submit the Division's Weekly Highlights to the Director's Office, act as liaison with other management assistants and submit the requests for use of Employee Development Funds and manage special department projects. The MA I will also be available for community engagement efforts, supporting department initiatives and fostering positive relationships with community members. This position also serves as a liaison to the Parks Foundation, assisting with processing check requests, and is responsible for updating division metrics. This role includes writing, editing, and submitting reports in the Legistar system with additional duties of conducting assigned research projects, coordinating data collection, and providing backup for City Council briefings and constituent inquiries.
