About The Position

The Special Officer position at the Diocese of Pittsburgh is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of personnel, including clergy, administrators, students, parishioners, visitors, and property within the diocesan schools. This role involves collaboration with the Regional Security Supervisor and the Regional School Superintendent, and it may require working outside of normal hours, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Completion of a complete background check including PA Child Abuse History, Criminal Record Check, and Fingerprint Certification.
  • Licensed under 18 PA.C.S. CH 61 Sub. A.
  • Completion of PA Act 235-Armed Security Guard with annual recertification of firearms.
  • Completion of PCCD Approved School Officer Course within six months of employment.
  • Minimum ten years as a Police Officer with Act 120 or ten years as a Pennsylvania State Trooper, separated in good standing.
  • Minimum three years of experience as a School Resource Officer or similar role.
  • Maintain current CPR/AED and first aid certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Instructor-level CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various security duties assigned to a Regional School and/or High School.
  • Maintain current CPR/AED and first aid certifications.
