About The Position
The Division of Administration--Bureau of Operations/Health Police Unit oversees, directs, and protects DOHMH employees, clients, visitors, and properties throughout NYC areas on a 24/7 basis. The position of Special Officer involves responding to emergency incidents, maintaining heightened security levels at key locations, and securing other Health Department facilities throughout the five boroughs. Special Officers may be required to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, and to work rotating tours or overtime as needed. Physical activities include working outdoors in all weather conditions, walking or standing during tours, and assisting in carrying injured individuals.
