About The Position

Brookwood in Georgetown (BiG) is a dynamic Christian non-profit vocational program for adults with special needs. Our mission is to celebrate and empower our Citizens through meaningful work and change the way the world views our population. We just opened our new residential community, Grace Place, right outside of Georgetown. We are looking for an individual with a passion for special needs adults to join our team and provide weekend care for our Citizens.

Requirements

  • Prefer undergraduate degree in psychology, sociology, human services, or special education with 1-3 years' experience working with special needs adults.
  • Directly supervises the residential associates, interns, and up to 8 Residents.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the community's policies and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complains and resolving problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience supervising a group home is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the daily activities of the residents assigned to their care, according to BiG's Core Values. These activities include personal hygiene, meal preparation, home maintenance, socialization, vocational, skill development and medical treatment regiments.
  • Plans meals, leisure activities, and individual skill development activities for Residents in their care.
  • Assists in training and monitoring the home's direct care staff to ensure all necessary functions of the home are carried out efficiently, safely, and with dignity for all residents.
  • Monitors and distributes prescription medications to the Residents; maintains medication logs and records and assures medications are properly stored and securely maintained in accordance with Texas HHSC regulations.
  • Maintains an on-going relationship with family and guardians and provides information and feedback when appropriate.
  • Communicates contact with families, which occur over the weekend, to the Home Manager.
  • Assists in planning and and participates in community life events, activities, and holiday celebrations.
  • Accompanies Residents to activities on and off campus.
  • Works safely and looks after the safety of the citizens and staff under their direction. Immediately reports unsafe conditions to the Residential Director or Home Manager.
  • Participates in regular fire drills, safety and health training for weekend staff, interns, and residents.
  • Contributes to the completion of timely performance evaluations and supports the Home Manager in providing meaningful assessment and communication to every staff member each year.
  • Direct any volunteers assigned to the home over the weekend. Assign appropriate activities to the volunteers, in accordance with BiG's safety policy.
  • Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Home Manager or Residential Director.
