A warm and busy family in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a professional nanny to support and provide care for their two children. This role focuses on providing joyful, calm, confident, and structured care for two young children. The family has a sweet 6-year-old son who is non-verbal and has level 3 autism. He has reached most developmental milestones typical of a 2-year-old. They also have a bright, highly verbal 4-year-old daughter with advanced cognitive abilities and some sensory sensitivities. This is a unique role requiring someone who can thoughtfully support two very different developmental profiles. The family is looking for a highly emotionally intelligent caregiver who can remain calm and regulated, particularly when navigating transitions, sensory needs, or emotional dysregulation. Their son attends an ABA clinic during the day. At home, care focuses on sensory engagement and gentle support with transitions. He is very sweet, non-violent, and highly sensory-seeking. At times he may resist transitions—such as bath time or diaper changes—through passive resistance. Because he is quite large for his age, the caregiver should feel physically confident lifting up to 70 lbs and helping guide him through these moments. Unlike many autistic children who thrive on predictable routines, their son often resists them. As a result, activities such as meals, baths, and projects cannot always follow a fixed schedule. Instead, the day often requires thoughtful flexibility and the ability to pivot based on his preferences and engagement. The family is looking for a nanny who can navigate this calmly and adapt easily as the day unfolds. Their daughter is twice exceptional, she is both highly intelligent and uniquely sensitive. She shows strong academic curiosity and is already beginning to read. She loves puzzles, problem-solving, and activities that challenge her intellectually. At the same time, she benefits from support with emotional regulation and navigating sensory sensitivities, particularly in loud or overstimulating environments. The family is seeking a mature, proactive nanny who can confidently take the lead in managing the children's routines and developmental needs while forming a collaborative partnership with the parents. The goal is to create a stable, supportive environment that allows the parents to step back from daily logistics and focus on quality family time. This is a long-term role for someone who brings initiative, emotional intelligence, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for supporting children with diverse developmental needs.
