About The Position

As a Special Needs Assistant, you will assist children with a disability and developmental delay in every aspect of daily care. You will report to the Center Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Willing to obtain a Paraprofessional Certification or Specialized work-related credential
  • Some prior experience working with children that have a special need

Responsibilities

  • Monitor children's activity to always ensure safety.
  • Assist children with personal care and hygiene care.
  • Assist children with feeding and teaching self-help skills.
  • Assist teaching staff in implementing curriculum and individualized goals for the child with a disability to promote growth and learning in all developmental areas.
  • Promote communication, play and socialization between a child with a disability and other children in the classroom.
  • Assist children with gross motor activities such as grasping, holding objects, posture, crawling, walking, and running; assist children with fine motor activities such as playing with toys, cutting materials, or drawing.
  • Work with individual children and in small groups.
  • Attend IFSP & IEP meetings, when needed.
  • Administer Medication when needed.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
