About The Position
As a Special Needs Assistant, you will assist children with a disability and developmental delay in every aspect of daily care. You will report to the Center Supervisor.
Requirements
- Willing to obtain a Paraprofessional Certification or Specialized work-related credential
- Some prior experience working with children that have a special need
Responsibilities
- Monitor children's activity to always ensure safety.
- Assist children with personal care and hygiene care.
- Assist children with feeding and teaching self-help skills.
- Assist teaching staff in implementing curriculum and individualized goals for the child with a disability to promote growth and learning in all developmental areas.
- Promote communication, play and socialization between a child with a disability and other children in the classroom.
- Assist children with gross motor activities such as grasping, holding objects, posture, crawling, walking, and running; assist children with fine motor activities such as playing with toys, cutting materials, or drawing.
- Work with individual children and in small groups.
- Attend IFSP & IEP meetings, when needed.
- Administer Medication when needed.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
