About The Position

The SHAD Technician is responsible for providing reliable, high quality customer support through on-site inspecting, installing, repairing and/or replacing fire alarm equipment as well as conducting preventive maintenance services pertaining to many different manufacturers' equipment. Perform service and repairs on Portable Fire Extinguishers, Kitchen Hood Systems & Suppression Gas Systems in addition to other related building system products at customer sites.

Requirements

  • Candidate should hold relevant manufacturers and state licenses for Fire Alarm License to inspect Suppression Systems.
  • Have a strong knowledge of NFPA codes and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills along with Outstanding Customer facing service and problem-solving skills.
  • Stay current with code requirements and industry changes.
  • PC Skills including Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Able to inspect alarm and special gas systems, FM 200, Sapphire, CO2, high pressure and low pressure.
  • Valid state Driver's License required.
  • Willing to pass post-offer drug screen, reference and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 2 years or more is a plus.
  • Prior relevant work experience preferred.
  • NICET Certification; OSHA Certification is a plus.
  • Prior suppression system manufacturer certification is a plus.
  • Specific training in the fire industry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs inspections of Fire Alarm and Suppression Gas Systems based on contract requirements.
  • Test all equipment after installation or repairs made to ensure performance of system.
  • Daily communications with Project Leader and/or Schedule Coordinator on inspections, installations or project delays, requirements, and general status of jobs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers. Up-sell all IFP services to include inspections, sprinkler installation and monitoring.
  • Work with Project Leader, Schedule Coordinator and Office Administrative Staff to ensure complete closeout and turnover of jobs to the client.
  • Travel as required to job sites as directed by your foreman and/or other leaders.
  • Inventory and maintain organization of materials on the job site.
  • Meet responsibilities to the customer, fellow workers and IFP by arriving on the job on time, ready to work, every day.
  • Adhere to contractual starting and quitting times, including lunch and break periods.
  • Maintain accountability and respect tools provided by IFP.
  • Complete work at or below budgeted labor hours. Immediately inform your leaders of any delays or work stoppages.
  • Respect the customer's property. Dispose of all trash properly and be aware of your surroundings to avoid property damage.
  • Understand and follow all customer, APi Group and IFP safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Obey all safe, reasonable, and legitimate leadership directives.
