About The Position

2026 SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY - SPECIAL EVENTS INTERNSHIP Do you enjoy event planning and working with the public? Are art and music important to you? The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, a nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts complex in Sheboygan, WI, is seeking a Special Events intern to join our Public Programs team for our exciting Summer 2026. In this hands-on role, you will help plan and support the logistics for key events, including our weekly concert series and the summer art festival. You’ll also assist with facility rentals, including weddings, corporate meetings, and group tours. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in how a cultural institution connects with its community.

Requirements

  • A current undergraduate or graduate student (or recent graduate) in art administration, marketing, communications, museum studies, business, or a related field.
  • Experienced working in a customer service-related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communicator with an eye for detail.
  • Interested in art, music, museums, and cultural or nonprofit organizations.
  • Organized, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment; able to quickly problem solve.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to acquire Wisconsin bartender license
  • Drivers License and ability to work with us at our nearby locations/events

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, setting up, trouble shooting, and managing facility rentals and special events
  • Assist with preparation and execution of all Arts Center special events, including Levitt Amp Music Series throughout the summer, the Midsummer Festival of the Arts in mid-July, and the Art Center’s participation in 4th of July parade.
  • Organize and order supplies; maintain inventories
  • Complete research related to special events and rentals, as directed
  • Interface with the public and deliver exceptional customer service to a wide variety of clientele
  • Provide general administrative support to the Special Events Coordinator
