About The Position

Assist the Special Events team with planning and executing events during live racing and non-racing seasons. This will include night and weekend events.

Requirements

  • Must be available on weekends and have a flexible class schedule to hold10-15 office hours during non-race meet months and 20 hours during the race meet.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Currently enrolled or recently earned a degree in Hospitality and Tourism, Marketing, Communications, Integrated Strategic Communications or a related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Special Event Team in preparing for the race meet including ticketing, room setup and general logistics.
  • Represent Keeneland by meeting with clients the day-of the event and ensuring they have an excellent experience.
  • Assist the Special Event Team in design content such as menu cards, directional signage and other creative projects.
  • Observing client intake and event logistics for a variety of occasions including weddings, receptions and corporate events.
  • Shadow site visits with groups and individuals.
  • Assistwith onsite event management and set-up.
  • Plan and execute assigned internal events. Planning includes creating event diagrams, preparing event orders and event timelines.
