The responsibilities and duties described here are representative of those an employee must perform. This is not a comprehensive list and other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four (4) years of college level courses with an emphasis on business.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Must have a positive, can-do and joyful attitude with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced office environment
  • Must be passionate about fitness, team building and special events with a team-first mentality
  • Must be able to interact well with the public, learn quickly and be a self-starter
  • Must have a friendly and professional phone and email etiquette
  • Must be an excellent and articulate communicator
  • Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit who can run projects independently
  • Creative problem-solver and ability to flourish in a fast-paced work environment
  • CPR/AED certification required within the first 30 days of hire
  • Ability to effectively manage internal and external customers, using patience, tact, and diplomacy to diffuse situations, collect accurate information, and resolve conflicts
  • Strong interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business levels, including evenings and weekends
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Ability to lift, carry, load, unload, push, pull up to 20lbs
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop on a consistent basis
  • Ability to move throughout the complex

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or Communications preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of sales and/or operations experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Chelsea Piers product and brand knowledge
  • Provide high level customer service and hospitality to clients
  • Be attentive and engage with clients and members
  • First point of contact for all event customer issues
  • Maintain a positive attitude and take initiative
  • 2 hospitality shifts per week
  • Manage event check-in and be onsite point of contact for special events
  • Work closely with event sales team and vendors to execute events details such as meeting room floor plans, catering, audio-visual, entertainment, etc.
  • Serve as referee for events, leading group games such as volleyball and dodgeball
  • Work with clients to understand goals for team building events and design team building programs
  • Hire and schedule special events staff
  • Coordinate set up, breakdown and storage of event equipment
  • Support member, community, sponsorship and outreach events
  • Serve as main point of contact for School Contracts
  • Serve as main in venue contact for Summer Camp
  • Support hospitality, group fitness and marketing teams as needed
  • Attend weekly special events departmental meeting and other venue specific meetings to support business operations
  • Manage event details utilizing Zoho, a Customer Relationship Management tool (CRM) and Exerp (scheduler)
  • Execute a seamless hand off of event details from event sales team
  • Process W2 and 1099 payroll weekly
  • Communicate effectively with teammates through Prospr, TEAMS, email and phone
