About The Position

The Special Events Coordinator is a detail-oriented, creative development professional who oversees well-planned, successful, and innovative fundraising events in support of Henry Street Settlement’s social service, arts, and health care programs. Events include, but are not limited to, a new Gala Preview at Independent, building on Henry Street’s long history of supporting the intersection of the art world with our community. The Special Events Coordinator works closely with committees, donors, vendors, and internal and external partners to ensure successful event execution, administration and fundraising. The position reports to the Executive Vice President, Special Events and Individual Giving and is part of a dynamic team focused on building meaningful relationships to support and grow Henry Street’s work and impact. You are: Able to thrive in a fast-paced, professionally rigorous environment and manage multiple demands and deadlines. Highly detailed oriented. A strong, persuasive writer and verbal communicator. Committed to and deeply knowledgeable about the human service and cultural communities of New York City. Able to work effectively and discretely with donors/prospects, board members, staff, and volunteers.

Requirements

  • At least three (3) years of work in fundraising and/or non-profit special events management.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service experience.
  • Experience tracking and reporting data and revenue.
  • Excellent proofreading, writing and verbal communications skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Raiser’s Edge experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating Henry Street’s fundraising and cultivation events in collaboration with external partners, including, but not limited to, our new Gala Preview at Independent on May 14, 2026.
  • Overseeing all administrative areas for events including but not limited to drafting and editing solicitation and acknowledgement letters and emails, event registration data entry, ticketing, income and data reporting, payment processing, and website updates.
  • Driving communication strategy and coordinating event outreach through digital & print mailings.
  • Managing relationships and communication with committee members , donors and sponsors for donor cultivation.
  • Researching and identifying new prospects for cultivation to increase event revenue pipelines.
  • Managing relationships with external partners and vendors to support a seamless event experience.
  • Supporting auction logistics and auction donor cultivation.
  • Coordinating ongoing event analytics/evaluation on income and expenses to ensure continued success of events and sustainability.
  • Overseeing event Front of House as the lead on all event logistics, staff assignments, volunteer training, and onsite payment processing to ensure a seamless, inviting, and professional experience.
  • Developing and implementing additional creative, and successful fundraising events for Henry Street.
