About The Position

The Special Events Associate at Shepherd Center plays a crucial role in planning and executing signature fundraising events, particularly The Legendary Party. This position involves collaboration with volunteer leaders and the Advancement Team to ensure successful event implementation, sponsorship solicitation, and donor relations. The Associate is responsible for managing event logistics, budgets, and vendor relationships while maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of three to five years of managing donor or corporate events and experience in non-profit development or marketing.
  • Sound knowledge of the Atlanta Social and Business Community.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent team building, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Computer skills in MS Office, Email, and Social Media platforms.
  • Competence in financial analysis and special event planning.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement all aspects of the Foundation's signature fundraising gala, The Legendary Party.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee the activities of the Shepherd Center Junior Committee.
  • Coordinate and oversee prospecting and solicitation of sponsorships and in-kind donations for Foundation Signature events.
  • Manage and execute all aspects of signature fundraising events including logistics, vendors, committees, and volunteers.
  • Work with Research and Philanthropy Teams to identify and cultivate event sponsorships and support from donor populations.
  • Develop and manage event budgets and marketing plans to meet fundraising goals.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure high-quality products and services.
  • Process event vendor contracts and invoices for payment and maintain financial records.
  • Update the donor database to reflect interactions with donors, participants, and volunteers.
  • Meet event fundraising goals and maintain expenses within 25% of Gross Revenue.
  • Collaborate with Public Relations to publish event information in various media.
  • Coordinate event gift entry and acknowledgment with Donor Services.
  • Provide administrative support to the Cause and Community Engagement Manager.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient population and donor information.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to grow knowledge of philanthropic trends.
