About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in La Verne, CA Details: In-Person Tutoring in La Verne, CA Schedule: 3 sessions per week 1hr and 15minutes Pay range is between $25 and $35 Ideal Candidate: Valid teaching credential required (Special Education preferred) Experience working with students with autism, including nonverbal learners Strong background in early childhood and foundational academic instruction (Pre-K–elementary levels) Skilled in teaching foundational literacy skills, including letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and early comprehension Strong understanding of foundational math skills, including number sense, counting, and simple operations Experience implementing highly structured, IEP-aligned instruction Knowledge of visual supports, AAC strategies (as applicable), and behavior management techniques Patient, consistent, and confident managing significant attention-related behaviors Experience conducting academic assessments and developing targeted instructional goals

Requirements

  • Valid teaching credential required (Special Education preferred)
  • Experience working with students with autism, including nonverbal learners
  • Strong background in early childhood and foundational academic instruction (Pre-K–elementary levels)
  • Skilled in teaching foundational literacy skills, including letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and early comprehension
  • Strong understanding of foundational math skills, including number sense, counting, and simple operations

  • Knowledge of visual supports, AAC strategies (as applicable), and behavior management techniques
  • Patient, consistent, and confident managing significant attention-related behaviors
  • Experience conducting academic assessments and developing targeted instructional goals

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an initial academic assessment to determine present levels of performance in literacy and math
  • Develop individualized, IEP-aligned lesson plans based on assessment results
  • Provide intensive instruction in early literacy skills, including letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and foundational comprehension
  • Deliver structured math instruction focusing on number sense, counting, and basic operations
  • Break lessons into short, highly engaging segments with frequent redirection and reinforcement
  • Implement predictable routines and structured sessions to support attention and engagement
  • Utilize visual supports, modeling, and hands-on materials to promote understanding and retention
  • Incorporate positive behavior supports and reinforcement strategies to address severe attention-related behaviors
  • Maintain detailed progress monitoring and adjust instruction based on student response
  • Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding progress and recommended strategies
