About The Position

Position: Special Education Providence Assistant 2026-2027 The Providence School English Station Campus Monday - Friday Job Description Scope The Providence Assistant‘s primary duties are to support students with Down syndrome. They will collaborate with the Providence teacher as directed, by providing instruction to students, creating and implementing modified materials, and other duties as appropriate. Qualifications The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect: A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for the Christian Academy School System Agreement and belief that The Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind The ideal candidate shall provide/successfully complete the following: Previous professional experience with special needs children preferred Copy of High School diploma or transcript of highest degree earned TB test CPR & First Aid Training Criminal Records Check Child Abuse and Neglect Check (CAN) Must be 18 years of age Accountabilities / Responsibilities The Assistant shall: Be responsible for assisting the Providence Classroom Teacher Collaborate with the classroom teacher to meet student needs Care for and treat each child with dignity and respect Help in preparation of necessary materials for lessons/activities Assist students with self-help skills which may include toileting, lunch, snack Utilize technology to gather data, work with students, create materials, and steamline information, etc Attend and participate in all Providence School staff meetings Participate in recommended training programs, workshops, courses, and other aspects so professional growth as needed Assistant will assure each child is treated with love and value and taught that God made him/her special Will pray for each teacher and student daily Perform other duties as assigned Outcomes Ongoing assistance to Providence School Teacher Regular onging support for students Reporting Relationship The Providence Teaching Assistant works under the direction of the Providence classrom teacher, and is accountable to the Providence School Director, and the Principal.

Requirements
