About The Position

KIPP Minnesota seeks exceptional licensed Special Education Middle School teachers for our upcoming school year. Position Overview The Special Education Middle School Teacher, you are a KIPP Minnesota Team member and will directly lead instruction with students. Special Education teachers co-teach alongside a general education teacher in an inclusion or resource classroom setting to support all students and lead small group instructional spaces. They will plan daily lessons that lead to high levels of student achievement and build and support a school-wide culture and excellence.

Requirements

• B.A./B.S. degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field teaching
• Minnesota state certification in teaching appropriate subject areas (K-6 Special Education Elementary Education). Applicants who will hold the following credentials by August 31st of each school year are welcome to apply. We will work with applicants whose license is in process.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Experience writing IEPs not necessary, will train
• Highly organized and punctual
• Customer focused approach
• A high degree of flexibility
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with using technology in teaching and learning
• Skill in using positive, constructive disciplinary approaches
• Familiarity with current teaching/learning theories

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in historically educationally underserved communities and communities of color
• Minimum three (3) years of classroom teaching experience

Responsibilities

• Implement the school-wide student management policies within classrooms and everywhere on campus
• Create and teach challenging and engaging lessons aligned to state standards
• Assist in the development of curriculum standards and mapping
• Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents
• Create a classroom environment that is warm and demanding and expects 100% of students to meet expectations
• Maintain a neat, clean classroom environment and a professional personal appearance
• Work to ensure that all IEPs and student needs are met both within and outside of the classroom
• Manage a student caseload
• Perform morning, lunch and afternoon duties as assigned and attend all staff meetings
• With support from school leaders, use data to drive instructional practices to constantly improve student achievement and instruction
• Seek to constantly develop and improve teaching practices through ongoing feedback conversations with School Leaders and other school faculty within KIPP Minnesota
