Special Education Teacher LEAP Program Wamsutta Middle School This program provides a highly-structured environment that emphasizes academic skill development including reading, mathematics, written language, expressive/receptive communication, problem-solving and organization.

Requirements

  • Massachusetts Licensure as a Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8) or (5-12) preferred
  • Exceptions to the above qualifications shall be made as the Superintendent deems appropriate and acceptable

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years as a special educator preferred

Responsibilities

  • Addresses the needs of diverse learners in accordance with Federal and State laws and regulations.
  • Collaborates with TEAM members to implement specially designed instruction to support educational and social-emotional behavioral needs in accordance with student’s IEP.
  • Collaborates with the TEAM to determine and implement appropriate accommodations for classroom assessments and standardized examinations for special education students.
  • Completes all assigned paperwork for the special education process as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Provides targeted and evidence-based interventions.
  • Fulfills all case management responsibilities associated with the IEP.
  • Uses evidence-based research and continuing education to address MA frameworks and to meet licensure requirements.
  • Performs other responsibilities as deemed appropriate and assigned by a supervisor and/or designee.
