About The Position

Special Education Teacher - MO (2025-26 school year) Anticipated Education Required Level: Bachelor’s Degree, minimum Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities Adapts classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans. Administers developmental testing programs, subject-specific assessments, etc. for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans. Administers, under supervision, first aid, and assistance to medically fragile children (e.g, toileting, diapering, etc.) for the purpose of providing appropriate care for children as assigned. Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment. Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals (e.g. behavioral, motor development and communication skills, academic needs, vocational abilities, etc.) for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration. Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan. Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject-specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirements. Directs paraprofessionals, and student teachers, for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students. Use relevant technology to support instruction Conduct case conferences (initial and annual) as required Assist in the development of other components of students' developmental, health, and social history as required Provide in-service training and make recommendations for parents and support staff on special education issues Complete DOE required annual assessments (i.e., IAM, ILEARN) Create and implement Individual Education Programs for all students on your caseload Attend and participate in special education staff meetings Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations Keep up to date with developments in the subject area, teaching resources, and methods, and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education
  • Valid Indiana Teacher License or Valid Out of State Teacher License
  • Relevant endorsement is required (eg Mild Disabilities and/or Intense, etc.)
