About The Position

University Instructors, LLC is seeking talented people from diverse backgrounds to lead, change, and inspire students in the Sacramento area. In this role you will serve students in special education programs as a classroom teacher. In this role you’ll be responsible for planning instruction and/or adaptation of the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences.

Requirements

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Successful applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in any field
  • Applicants must be willing to enroll in an EPP (Educator Prep Program). An EPP consists of the additional coursework needed to obtain a professional teaching license in the state of California (This will vary from applicant to applicant)
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.
  • Ability to talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision.

  • Additional experience supporting individuals with physical or behavioral needs is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Build trust and confidence with students.
  • Plan curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods.
  • Maintains the physical environment of the classroom for organization and presentation purposes.
  • Encourages good citizenship.
  • Instruct individuals and groups on Special Education skill areas according to student needs on I.E.P.
  • Monitor student progress in and outside resource room
  • Modifie curriculum.
  • Maintain contact with parents of students.
  • Evaluate student progress based on work output and observation, determines goals, objectives and directions.
  • Prepare report cards, educational records, IEPC forms, classroom observation records, and other forms.
  • Participate in scheduled site and/or district Special Education meetings
  • Administer testing evaluations.
  • Develop an effective working relationship with other special education and classroom teachers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Teachers will supervise classroom, students, aides and volunteers.
