Job SummaryThe Special Education Teacher supports students with diverse learning needs in a Catholic school environment. This teacher provides individualized instruction, collaborates with general education teachers and families, and helps students achieve academic success while fostering spiritual, moral, and personal development consistent with the mission and values of the Catholic Church.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education
  • Valid state teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility for certification).
  • Experience working with students with learning disabilities, developmental delays, or behavioral needs.
  • Knowledge of special education law, assessment, and intervention strategies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and administrators.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education (practicing Catholic preferred but not always required depending on the school).

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to students with learning differences, disabilities, or other special needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum and instruction for diverse learners.
  • Use differentiated instruction and evidence-based strategies to support student learning.
  • Conduct assessments and track student progress toward learning goals.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records related to student services and progress.
  • Work with parents, administrators, and support staff to support student success.
  • Participate in student support meetings and professional learning communities.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive classroom environment that reflects Catholic values.
  • Integrate faith, respect, and compassion into daily interactions with students.
  • Support the mission and philosophy of the Catholic school.
