About The Position

We are accepting applications for potential Special Education Teacher openings at our IB campus (Grades 7-12) for the 2026-2027 school year. New employees are expected to attend New Teacher Orientation on August 13th & 14th, and the week of staff professional development beginning August 17th. The first day of school for students is August 24, 2026. An SLCS Teacher is responsible for planning, instruction, activities, and assessments aligned with the SLCS curriculum. Teachers design and implement an integrated instructional program that supports an inclusion-based learning approach, fostering a safe environment that respects academic and cultural diversity. Teachers are also expected to collaborate with fellow educators and support staff to deliver instructional strategies that address a wide range of learning styles, individual needs, interests, abilities, and levels of student development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
  • Valid Pennsylvania Department of Education certification
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to inclusive learning practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong research, planning, and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students to support their development
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google

Nice To Haves

  • Special Education certification preferred/required, if applicable
  • Prior experience with International Baccalaureate (MYP or DP) programmes preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assessing students’ developmental, cognitive, emotional, and social needs, as well as learning styles, and providing developmentally appropriate instruction to meet those needs
  • Conducting academic assessments as required and using results, along with classroom observations, to support eligibility determinations and program decisions
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers to develop and implement instruction and activities that integrate, support, and enhance the SLCS curriculum
  • Developing, monitoring, and reporting on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with established guidelines
  • Ensuring that differentiated instruction, accommodations, modifications, and other IEP components are consistently implemented
  • Serving as an advocate for students to ensure their educational and developmental needs are met
  • Evaluating student performance and communicating progress with classroom teachers, support staff, and administration
  • Partnering with classroom teachers to identify students who may be at academic and/or behavioral risk
