About The Position

The Marshfield R-1 School District is in search of a special education teacher for the 2026-27 for Shook Elementary. Marshfield is a 4-day school week for students. The special education teacher will be required to plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students with disabilities in a variety of educational settings The person in this position is responsible for creating a flexible program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction for students with disabilities, such that the students benefit from the general education curriculum to the greatest extent possible when supported with supplemental aides, accommodations, and other needed supports Willingness to understand and support the District's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Certification in cross-categorical K-12
  • Updated transcript of college credit
  • Knowledge of appropriate grade level and functional curriculum associated with the position.
  • Must successfully pass a background check that are satisfactory to the Board of Education.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Individual Educational Plans (IEP)
  • Attend/participate in appropriate and relevant meetings and staffings
  • Initiate and complete required paperwork within established timelines
  • Collaborate with appropriate staff/individuals regarding student programs and services
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the normal instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms
  • Develops a schedule that is conducive to student learning
  • Provide leadership to his/her students in the learning process.
  • Develops reasonable rules addressing classroom behavior and procedures in the classroom that maintains fair and just order in the classroom
  • Knowledge of requirements of Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) and MAP-A.
  • Attends special education staffing and faculty meetings and serves on committees as assigned
  • Attend professional development as assigned by district/building-level administrators
  • Adheres to all federal, state, and local policies
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Building Principal and/or Director of Special Services
