Responsibilities

  • Provide direct service to students with disabilities, consult with other staff on student and educational issues, work in inclusion and resource classrooms
  • Knowledgeable about accommodations and modifications.
  • Knowledge regarding MCAS Accommodations and Alt. MCAS Development
  • Participate in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process by attending IEP meetings, work collaboratively with IEP team members, complete and prepare IEP paperwork, and deliver instruction in a meaningful and appropriate way to enable students to progress toward goals outlined in the IEP.
  • Complete Progress Reports.
  • Develop individualized lesson plans that meet criteria for specially designed instruction
  • Plan, implement, and adapt instructional activities
  • Administer appropriate educational assessments to determine eligibility for special education and to gather data for the development of the IEP
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curricular goals, and in congruency with those goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects
  • Provide appropriate behavior management strategies and techniques in order to maintain a safe and effective learning environment
  • Collaborate with Relate Service professionals.
  • Communicate routinely with parents and other school personnel
  • Perform duties to keep classroom area neat, clean, and safe
  • Be able to support a remote learning environment.
  • Supervise support staff (paraprofessionals/tutors)
