About The Position

Rite of Passage Team is hiring for a Special Education Teacher at The Arkansas Juvenile Assessment and Treatment Center (AJATC) in Bryant, Arkansas. AJATC is a secure residential program for at-risk male and female youth, located on 110 acres just outside of Little Rock, AR. Through trained programming for staff, AJATC promotes a normalized high school experience, offers a safe environment and provides opportunities for positive change, as well as providing the unlimited potential for achievement and growth for students and staff. The campus features residential student dormitories, on-site school and library, vocational training program, chapel, gymnasium, medical and an outdoor recreation area. A Special Education Teacher will work primarily with students in an educational setting delivering a curriculum of Target Teaching methodologies. Requirements

Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
Have an active teacher's certification in Special Education
Be at least 21 years of age
Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug, physical, and TB test
Be able to pass a search of the child and adult abuse central registry
Must meet the requirements to become an ROP eligible driver, including having a valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

Work primarily with students in an educational setting delivering a curriculum of Target Teaching methodologies
Track student attendance
Maintain student grades
Prepare lesson plans
Assist as needed in the classroom setting
Respond to the needs of students who have a variety of ability levels
Create a positive, safe and supportive environment for the youth
