About The Position

Each therapeutic emotional support classroom will be led by a Special Education Teacher responsible for planning, implementing and delivering high-quality, individualized instruction tailored to each student’s academic needs.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Special Education, or related field, a Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid Wisconsin certification in Special Education instruction.
  • Prior experience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges, preferably in a therapeutic setting.
  • Knowledge and experience with IEP software.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices.
  • Trained as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) within one year of employment.
  • Ability to work effectively on a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with MPS leadership, MPS staff, program staff, students, parents, and key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Developing individualized learning strategies based upon students’ IEPs.
  • Planning, organizing, and assigning activities specific to each student’s abilities.
  • Assessing students’ progress and determining the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.
  • Employing and implementing a classroom structure to encourage student responsibility, cooperation, and mutual respect consistent with TLC and MPS policies and procedures.
  • Participating in multi-disciplinary team meetings to discuss student goals, progress, and interventions.
  • Integrating social emotional learning and coping strategies into daily lessons.
  • Working in collaboration with Licensed Mental Health Professionals and Behavior Mentors to support students’ positive behavior changes.
  • Maintaining accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
  • Completing all district and state reporting requirements.
