About The Position

Special Education Teacher- Substantially Separate (FY 27- pending budget) Key Duties & Responsibilities: Develop and Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Create and maintain IEPs for students with disabilities, ensuring goals and objectives are tailored to meet individual needs. Provide Direct Instruction: Deliver specialized instruction in academic, social, and behavioral areas to students with disabilities in various settings, including inclusive classrooms and resource rooms Assess Student Progress : Conduct formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress, adjust instruction based on data, and report progress to parents and other stakeholders. Collaborate with General Education Teachers : Work closely with general education teachers to provide accommodations and modifications, ensuring students with disabilities can access the general education curriculum. Facilitate Inclusion: Support the inclusion of students with disabilities in general education classrooms and school activities, promoting a positive and accepting environment for all students. Behavior Management: Implement behavior intervention plans and use positive behavior supports to manage and improve student behavior. Family Engagement : Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child’s progress, challenges, and successes, and involve them in the educational process. Compliance and Documentation : Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to special education, and maintain accurate and confidential student records. Collaborative Team Member : Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including related service providers, administrators, and outside agencies, to support student success. Other duties, as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8) required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Special Education preferred
  • SEI Endorsement preferred
