About The Position

In this role, you will work closely and collaboratively with the Head of Support Services, the Director of Special Education, partner teachers, and the broader Atlas School team. The Special Education Teacher supports full compliance with state and federal requirements related to the identification, review, and dismissal of students with disabilities, in alignment with IDEA and Section 504.You will also provide direct special education services when appropriate and coordinate with external service providers. Guided by Atlas’ mission, you will bring your passion, creativity, and commitment to growth to help bring Atlas’ vision to life.

Requirements

  • Trained with essential strategies to support diverse learners, and have thorough knowledge of current disability law (IDEA, Section 504).

  • Provide an official transcript demonstrating graduating from an undergraduate institution
  • Provide evidence of passing the Elementary Education Multi-Content MEGA test including each of the following subtests:
  • 007 Elementary Education: English Language Arts Subtest
  • 008 Elementary Education: Mathematics Subtest
  • 009 Elementary Education: Science Subtest
  • 010 Elementary Education: Social Studies Subtest
  • Pass a background check complete Family Care Safety Registry
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Adapt and execute a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum that meets the diverse needs of all learners.
  • Provide students with daily, actionable feedback and intentionally plan for individual learning needs.
  • Serve as a special education case manager by developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs, ensuring compliance with all state and federal requirements.
  • Collaborate with students, families, and service providers to facilitate IEP meetings and support meaningful, student-centered goal setting.
  • Grow professionally within a dynamic and evolving educational environment.
  • Partner with families and community organizations to provide individualized student support while maintaining high expectations for all learners.
  • Educate the whole child by embracing an expanded definition of student success, ensuring all students develop the habits, skills, and mindsets needed to thrive.
