About The Position

Under the supervision and direction of the Campus Leadership, the Certified Special Education Teacher will effectively manage a caseload of students while preparing lesson plans, instructing students, evaluating and monitoring students’ performance, and advancing student achievement in the environment. The Certified Special Education Teacher should have experience differentiating instruction for a variety of learners and will work collaboratively with a team to plan and support instruction in accordance with students’ IEP goals. Teachers in this role should demonstrate a commitment to professional development through didactic workshops and classroom coaching. Candidates should have a passion for students on the spectrum and a willingness to be trained and coached in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies. The Certified Special Education Teacher will support a caseload of students and work on a team to implement a best-practice educational model to achieve optimal results for students on the autism spectrum and students with other related disorders at our Early Learning Center.

Requirements

  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing and teaching a caseload of students with disabilities
  • At least 3 years of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
  • Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred
  • Valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card

Responsibilities

  • Engaged in and oversight of staff and student caseload
  • Provided instructional support for students enrolled in the on-site school
  • Provide daily feedback to paraprofessionals and behavior specialists
  • Professional development for staff on modifications and implementation
  • Analyze curriculum data bi-weekly to make instructional decisions
  • Ongoing Student and Parent Communication
  • Modification of materials for classrooms as needed
  • Structured teaching planning, organizing, and implementing
  • Staff communication/feedback
  • Maintain substitute plans in case of the Lead Instructor's absence
  • Participate in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
  • Maintains knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices through professional development and study
  • Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for caseload and attend all required student meetings
  • Collect, analyze, and report data in a meaningful manner
  • Celebrates the achievements and successes of students.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
